winreview.com. never heard of it, just like the rest of the internet? You are in luck, here’s how we came about.

As a child, I was an avid gamer. Only back then, it never dawned on me that you bought new games when you got sick of the old ones. I had a vast collection of Sega games, courtesy of my father, so I never wanted any more. And back then, when you bought a game, it was chance whether or not it was going to be good or bad. If you bought the publications going round at the time, you might get lucky. But only the newest releases of that month got reviewed, so you had to back order or a magazine. Other than this medium, gaming was a dark area of life.

Nintendo 64 was when I started buying my own games, and even then it sorta sucked. I got a few magazines, I often got N64PRO, basically had strategy guides and good tip books. I also got another one, but I don’t remember. As a cheapy cheap skate, I didn’t often get the newest releases, but picked up things like Pokemon Stadium and Perfect Dark when they were released (£50 each, ouch!). However, I got stung on a few games, I will remember Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire for my whole life as one of the worst games I have ever played.

I still found myself yearning more and more video games. The industry is like a drug, and people get addicted, and it’s understandable. I remember when I got World of Warcraft for the first time. First time I had stayed up all night right through to school without realising. oh shit. I stumbled upon ScrewAttack (peace guys!) through the Angry Video Game Nerd, and I loved the idea of other gamers, just like me, probably better looking, writing reviews. The community is great there. Everyone had their own system, and it was great to read other peoples opinions. Of course, the guy from Xbox Magazine would write that Halo ‘roxx0red his asslumps off’ - he’s getting paid. The true gamer have nothing to gain or lose. That’s the type of review I want to read. I signed up to ScrewAttack and I enjoyed posting my views. This is where WinReview began...

Back in the late 90’s and early noughties (naughties lolz!) the internet hit mainstream, or my house anyway. My N64 collection was booming and all was well. But with the internet, a ‘series of tubes’ apparently, we got frightening new prospects. cheatcc started it out for me, as this is where I always went for cheats for, well, anything. I always waited until I completed a game before I went back to destroy it with codes, so it’s all good. It was also here I found my first game reviews, and better still, when google became mainstream, reviews were as easy as cake to find. The formula ran as ‘X - Y - REVIEW’ X is a game, Y is the console. easy mode.

...I never thought I’d be running and making my own website, it’s a learning experience for me and all my staff involved and I love every minute of it. Why did I start up, still not answered? I realised I wanted a website for you, the readers, to come to. I have a lot to say for myself, and this website is my medium of communication. I love gaming, alone, with friends and for fun or seriously. Lots of other websites see games as their jobs, but that’s not what it’s about. Theres enough of those types out there with biased reviews and asshole reviewers! *spits*.

Here it’s about the facts, the fun and the fucked up. You will find updates here on a daily basis, the website is constantly expanding in content and popularity, and we’re giving 100% in every review. On behalf of myself and all my colleagues, I hope you enjoy the work you find here, and most importantly, happy gaming. movie watching too, I guess. :D
